Clinique Vétérinaire St-Hubert, veterinary emergencies in Monaco

The clinic offers an emergency service outside opening hours.

All you need to do is call Dr Robotti's mobile number, who can be at the clinic very quickly. If this isn't possible, calls are either automatically transferred to the available emergency services, or the doctor directs you to the nearest available clinic.

A supplement is charged for all consultations and procedures outside opening hours; evening and Sunday consultations are 100 euro, 150 at night (midnight to 6am) and on special days such as Christmas, December 31st and January 1st. All emergencies must be paid for at the time of consultation.

No emergency is possible at home; a real emergency requires equipment for X-rays, analysis, ultrasound, surgery, intensive therapy, procedures impossible at home. That's why it's important to call the veterinarian directly, clearly explaining the reason for the call, so as to agree on the need for emergency care. The vet can then immediately understand if surgery is required, and alert his or her team to be ready when the injured animal arrives.

Emergency situations

Emergency means that the animal's life is in danger if we don't intervene quickly.

  • a major trauma,
  • injury to vital organs (heart, lung, liver, rat, intestine),
  • severe bleeding;
  • Difficult deliveries also require an urgent ultrasound consultation to assess the need for a cesarean section.
  • when the animal swallows poison or a foreign body.
  • licking processionary caterpillars in spring.

Diarrhoea, cystitis or coughs are not emergencies; acute incoercible vomiting can be an emergency; internal or external parasites are not emergencies.

What to do depending on the urgency?

  • In the event of trauma, falls or road accidents, call the mobile number and get to the clinic quickly and stress-free. In the event of heavy bleeding, compression at the site can limit blood loss.
  • In the event of convulsive seizures, above all, don't panic; keep the animal calm, avoid injury; if it's idiopatic epilepsy, the seizure passes on its own; if it's due to a drop in blood sugar, a little sugar water or honey can raise blood sugar levels and make the seizure pass.
  • In the event of discomfort, place the animal in a well-ventilated area, perform cardiac massage, stimulate the animal by rubbing it while you go to the nearest veterinarian, even if it's not your usual one.
  • If you are faced with paralysis, move the animal as little as possible, and transport it wrapped in a blanket.

The proposed commitment

A pet with cardiomyopathy, or who is being monitored for heart disease and is experiencing respiratory problems, must be seen within a day, so it's an emergency.

The clinic is equipped with an oxygen cage and all the instruments needed to resuscitate an animal in the event of illness; we are equipped for intensive therapy.

Eye diseases can be emergencies; an animal that closes one eye suddenly may have an ulcer and must be consulted quickly; on the other hand, if it has had red eyes for a few days, it is no longer an emergency, but care must be taken not to apply eye drops without consulting the veterinarian.
