What to look out for in autumn

Mushrooms:

The ingestion of mushrooms of any kind should be avoided for our pets. Even mushrooms that are edible to humans can be toxic to them, causing severe digestive, cardiac and neurological disorders.

Moldy nuts:

Moulds sometimes found on walnut shells fallen from walnut trees can cause neurological disorders such as tremors or even convulsions, as well as digestive problems in dogs who ingest them.

Onion and garlic:

Whether raw or cooked, onions and garlic are toxic to dogs and cats. In addition to digestive problems (vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea), these two foods can cause blood problems (anemia).

Coloquintes:

These squashes, though attractive, are inedible. Ingesting them causes severe gastroenteritis in animals.

What should you do if your pet has ingested one of these toxic substances? Follow the 3T rule:

Time:

Don't wait and don't try any "grandmother's remedy", as this often makes the situation worse.

Phone number:

Call your vet or a veterinary emergency service.

Toxic:

Indicate the product, quantity and time of ingestion if known.

Important to know:

As soon as you discover ingestion, don't wait for symptoms to appear, and consult a vet as soon as possible.
